The Websters Team are proud to announce our next Dinner Event, entitled ‘Rye July,’ which will take place on Wednesday, 17th of July at 7pm.
We will be tasting 5 whiskys, including two releases from the Antique Collection – Sazerac 18yr & George T. Stagg, alongside 5 imported craft beers from Frenchies, Gavroche & Chimay, including the incredible Chimay Grande Reserve, Rum Cask.
Our guides for the evening will be Southtrade Brand Ambassador Gee David on the whisky front, and Michael Lonard, our specialist on all things Belgian & French beer.
The whisky & beer will be accompanied by a paired 3 course dinner, conceptualized by our Executive Chef, Mark Cukeric. Mark has paired incredible dining options for at least 20 sold out events at Websters. and always ensures our customers enjoy the finest seasonal cuisine.
This time around we will be tipping our hats to ‘Bastille Day’ – A French National Day which marks the anniversary of Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, a turning point of the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération which celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790. The food offering will be firmly based on cuisine from New Orleans, Louisiana, and will focus on the French Quarter, where every year Bastille Day is celebrated by the locals.
The Websters vision for our events is that our guests enjoy an equal amount of information & entertainment, where everyone is welcome & the atmosphere allows for any occasion, from a catch up with mates, an intimate dinner or tasting with a loved one, or a coming together for guests who share the same passion for great whisky, tasty craft beer, & delicious food.

The One and Only New Orleans Original. Sazerac Rye Whiskey symbolizes the tradition and history of New Orleans. Rye Whiskey that dates back to the 1800’s, around the time when saloons, veiled as Coffee Houses, began lining the streets of New Orleans. It was at the Sazerac Coffee House on Royal Street where local patrons were served toddies made with Rye Whiskey and Peychaud’s Bitters. The libation became known as the “Sazerac” and America’s first branded cocktail was born. This is the whiskey that started it all.
Eagle Rare 10yr
Eagle Rare Bourbon Whiskey is masterfully crafted and carefully aged for no less than ten years. Every barrel is discriminately selected to offer consistent flavor but with a seemingly individual personality. Eagle Rare is a bourbon that lives up to its name with its lofty, distinctive taste experience.
E.H Taylor Rye
Straight Rye Whiskey has experienced a strong resurgence in the American whiskey landscape, yet Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was making this style more than 100 years ago. This small batch, Bottled-in-Bond 100 proof straight rye whiskey pays tribute to the former Distillery owner with a unique rye whiskey reminiscent of days long past.
SAZERAC 18YR (Antique Collection)
The famed Sazerac Coffee House was founded in 1850 on Exchange Alley in New Orleans, Louisiana and soon gained fame as the home of “America’s First Cocktail” known as the Sazerac. Using rye whiskey in place of the French brandy, a dash of Peychaud Bitters, and Herbsaint, what eventually became the official cocktail of New Orleans was created. This straight rye has a mellow spice and dry sweetness that dances on the tongue, giving pure delight that is worthy of the Sazerac name.
GEORGE T. STAGG (Antique Collection)
This extremely hearty whiskey ages in new charred oak barrels for no less than 15 years. Straight out of the barrel, uncut and unfiltered, the taste is powerful, flavorful and intense. Open it up with a few drops of water, sit back and ponder the wonders of the universe.
Kölsch is a refreshing classic beer from the German city of Cologne, where our head brewer Vince used to study. This one is largely inspired from his favourite, the Mühlen Kölsch at Heumarkt, Cologne. It is brewed with the finest noble hops, blending there flavours with gentle malt notes and a delicate fruitiness from fermentation, it finishes clean and dry.
Historically not sold to the public and only available at Auberge de Poteaupré, Chimay, Belgium, as “Speciale De Poteaupré”. This beer has been previously reserved for use solely by the Chimay Trappists Monks. Refreshing with a nice amount of spiciness. They say drinking this takes you one step closer to enlightenment!
Biere de garde is a style from Northern France, malty, strong in alcohol and with a lean body to enhance drinkability. Our Astrolabe displays a deep red colour and exhibits a toasty maltiness and caramelised dark stone fruit flavour. This is the kind of beer that would have been drunk in high quantities by the sailors of the famous french ship Astrolabe who arrived in Australia eight days after the first fleet.
Gavroche French Strong Ale
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.
CHIMAY GRANDE RUM CASK
The barrel-aged Chimay Blue of March 2016 stands out from classic Chimay Blue thanks to the many nuances provided by the additional fermentation in wooden barrels. This edition boasts an excellent blend of the characters of Chimay Blue and Rum. A balance between roundness and power that will be appreciated at best between 6 months and 1 year after its bottling. In 150 years, this is the only new and unique expression to be released from Chimay, and is extremely rare & limited!
