For those familiar with George R.R. Martin’s best-selling book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” (which was brought to the screen by HBO), the 8th and FINAL season finale of the fantasy epic is due for release on the 15th of April. The series is a depiction of two powerful families – kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and honest men – playing a deadly game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and to sit atop the Iron Throne.
The Websters Team are firm believers in immersing ourselves in the nature of an event, so naturally we will be dressing in our finest medieval attire, and we encourage our guests to do so, to create a vibrant and festive (or dark & deadly!) atmosphere for a truly spectacular event.
In conjunction with the release of the Game of Thrones finale, Diageo are releasing 8 extremely limited Game of Thrones whiskys, each representing a Great House of Westeros & The Night’s Watch), and we are fortunate enough to have the first collection available in Australia to share with our esteemed Lords & Ladies.
Diageo’s unparalleled diverse range of distilleries in Scotland, much like in Westeros, each have their own unique characteristics and produce a distinctive whisky representative of its local terroir. These similarities were the inspiration behind the collection, drawing an authentic storyline between each House and single malt pairing. For example, the Lagavulin 9 Year Old from Islay, a style renowned for its intense smoky and peaty style, has been chosen to represent the rich & fierce House Lannister, whose banner features a ferocious clawing lion; a warning any who cross their path. On the shores of one of the most remote and rugged Islands in Scotland, the Isle of Skye, lies Talisker Distillery. Its wave-beaten shores imbue its whisky with Talisker’s signature maritime character. An intense, smoky single malt, with spicy and sweet notes, whose maritime edge makes this the perfect whisky to represent House Greyjoy. These are just two of the six whiskys we will be tasting, and we are proud to announce we will also have the Oban Bay Reserve, representative of The Night’s Watch, available on our bar.
